Accessibility Statement

This site was built to be usable by as many people as possible, in both of its modes, with or without a mouse, and with or without motion. Here is exactly what has been done, what has not, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

Effective27 July 2026

Applies tomoments.recfocus.com and these policy pages

Everything claimed below is true of the site as it stands today, and everything not yet solved is listed rather than omitted. The effective date above reflects the version you are reading. This statement is a description of the work, not a certification.

Our Commitment

A celebration is for everyone in the family. The grandmother who cannot use a trackpad, the uncle who reads with a screen reader, the cousin whose vestibular disorder makes a parallax scroll genuinely unpleasant. A website about gathering people together should not be the thing that locks one of them out.

Accessibility was designed into this site from the first mockup rather than retrofitted onto a finished one. Contrast was solved while the palette was being chosen, not audited afterwards, and the motion system was written with an off switch from the beginning.

The standard we hold ourselves toIf a person cannot use this site, we would rather hear about it and fix it than have them quietly give up and go elsewhere. Every route below leads to a person, not a form.

The Standard We Build Toward

The target for this site is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, level AA.

Building toward a standard is a commitment and an ongoing practice. It is not a certificate, and this page does not present it as one.

  • No formal third party accessibility audit has been carried out on this site.
  • Where this page says something has been checked, it was checked by the people who built the site, using contrast tooling, keyboard testing, and browser accessibility inspectors.
  • Conformance is a moving target on a site that keeps growing. This statement is updated as things change.

Color and Contrast in Both Modes

This site has two complete modes, Ivory and Ink, and both are fully designed. Neither is an automatic filter applied to the other, and neither is an afterthought. Every color on the page resolves through a token, so a mode change swaps one table rather than patching individual rules.

Contrast has been checked in both modes, including for the nine occasion colors:

  • Weddings, Baby Showers, Birthdays, Proms and Sweet Sixteens, Anniversaries, Graduations, Engagements, Quinceañeras, and Retirements each carry their own distinct color. No two occasions share one.
  • Each of the nine clears the AA contrast threshold against every ground it is actually used on, in both modes. The dark set was re solved rather than lightened, because a naive lighten collapsed three of them onto each other.
  • Gold is used as text only in a darkened form on ivory, and only in its brighter form on ink, so the brand color never becomes a low contrast decoration you are expected to read.

Color is never the only signal

Every color coded item also carries a text label, so an occasion is identifiable without perceiving its color at all. Errors on the inquiry form are announced in words as well as in color, and the active mode is shown by a drawn rule under the chosen word, not by color alone.

Your mode choice is remembered between visits. Until you make one, the site follows your operating system's preference.

Keyboard Operation and Visible Focus

Every interactive element on this site is reachable and operable by keyboard alone. That includes the navigation, the mode switch, the mobile menu, the film players, the contents index on these policy pages, and every field and control on the inquiry form.

  • A visible focus ring is drawn in gold with an offset, so it sits clear of the element rather than hugging its edge, and it is visible in both modes.
  • The mode switch is a real button with role="switch", a live aria-checked state, and a label that updates to describe what pressing it will do.
  • The mobile menu closes on Escape as well as by its close control.
  • Focus order follows the visual order of the page.
  • There are no keyboard traps. Anything you can tab into, you can tab out of.
  • Link text makes sense read on its own, so a list of links is a usable index rather than a column of "read more".

Reduced Motion

This site has a great deal of motion in it by design. If your system is set to reduce motion, prefers-reduced-motion is honored throughout, and honored properly rather than partially.

Specifically, when reduced motion is set:

  • The opening logo animation does not play.
  • The scroll reveals do not animate. Content is simply present.
  • The parallax on the photographs and the full bleed plate is switched off, in the stylesheet and in the script that drives it.
  • The automatically advancing occasion reel does not advance on its own.
  • The cross fade between Ivory and Ink is switched off, so a mode change is instant.
  • Smooth scrolling is switched off, so a jump to a section is a jump.
  • The light sweep through the script words stops, and the type returns to a solid fill.

Nothing is lost by turning it offEvery element that would have animated into view is placed in its final visible state instead. Reduced motion removes the movement, never the content. Animation delays are zeroed too, because an animation shortened to nothing still hides its element for the length of its delay.

How to turn it on

  • macOS: System Settings, then Accessibility, then Display, then Reduce motion.
  • iOS and iPadOS: Settings, then Accessibility, then Motion, then Reduce Motion.
  • Windows: Settings, then Accessibility, then Visual effects, then Animation effects.
  • Android: Settings, then Accessibility, then Remove animations.

Images, Structure and Headings

  • Alt text on every image. Photographs carry a description of what is in them. Purely decorative ornament is marked so that assistive technology skips it rather than reading out noise, which is the more useful behavior.
  • Semantic landmarks. Header, navigation, main, and footer are real landmark elements, and each section carries a label, so a screen reader can move between regions directly.
  • Correct heading order. One page title, then sections beneath it, with no skipped levels. A screen reader's heading list is therefore a genuine table of contents.
  • Real markup for real things. Lists are lists, quotes are quotes, tables have header cells with scope, and buttons are buttons rather than styled divs.
  • The page language is declared, so a screen reader pronounces the content correctly.
  • Text resizes. Type is set in relative units and the layout reflows rather than clipping when text is enlarged.
  • These policy pages carry a contents index that is a real navigation landmark, with the section you are reading marked using aria-current.

Film Players and Sound

Nothing on this site plays automatically with sound. Anywhere.

Each film is shown as a still poster with a play control. The player is only loaded when you choose to play it, which means a page full of films is silent, still, and light until you decide otherwise.

Captions, honestly

The films are hosted on YouTube and play in YouTube's own player. Caption availability and quality therefore follow what is present on each individual film and what YouTube's interface provides, and we do not control that player's controls or its keyboard behavior. If you need a captioned version of a specific film, write to us and we will sort it out for you directly.

Known Limitations, Stated Honestly

A statement that claims perfection is not worth reading. These are the things we know are not solved.

  • No formal third party audit. Testing has been done in house with contrast tooling, keyboard navigation, and browser accessibility inspectors, not by an external auditor.
  • Not every assistive technology has been tested. We have not tested every combination of screen reader, browser, and operating system in use, and combinations behave differently.
  • The embedded YouTube player is a third party interface. Its controls, its captions, and its keyboard behavior belong to YouTube.
  • Not every film carries human authored captions. Some rely on automatic captioning, which is imperfect, particularly with music underneath speech.
  • The page carries a fine paper grain texture. It is decorative and it sits at very low opacity, but it is a texture over the whole page. If it causes you difficulty, tell us, because that is exactly the sort of thing we would want to know.
  • The display type is a high contrast serif. Cormorant Garamond is a deliberate part of the brand and it is used at large sizes only. Body copy is set in a plainer face for readability, but the large headings are not the most legible letterforms in existence.
  • Long policy pages are long. The contents index is there to make them navigable, and if it is not doing that job well enough for you, we would like to know.

This list is maintained honestly. When something on it is fixed, it comes off the list and the effective date changes.

Tell Us If Something Does Not Work

The whole route, in one lineEmail moments@recfocus.com and tell us what happened.

What helps, though none of it is required:

  • Which page you were on
  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened instead
  • What you were using, such as the browser, the device, or the screen reader, if you happen to know

We aim to reply within five business days, and to tell you plainly which of three things is true: the fix is quick and it is being done, the fix is larger and here is roughly when, or the problem sits inside something we do not control and here is a way around it in the meantime.

There is no form to fill in, no ticket number, and no automated reply. A person reads it.

Getting the Same Information Another Way

If any part of this site is not working for you, nothing on it is locked behind the site. Everything here is also available directly from a person.

We will answer any question about occasions, coverage, pricing, availability, or process by email, by phone, or in plain text with no formatting at all, whichever suits you.

An inquiry can be made entirely by email. You never have to use the form. A message with your date and your celebration in it is a perfectly good booking inquiry, and it reaches the same person.

Updates to This Statement

This statement is revised whenever the site changes in a way that affects it, whenever an item on the known limitations list is resolved, and whenever someone tells us about something we had not noticed. The effective date at the top always shows the version you are reading.
